Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Chirag Paswan on Sunday thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help in organising the funeral of his father Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan that was held at Patna's Janardhana Ghat on Saturday, October 10. Taking to the Twitter, Chirag Paswan offered his "heartfelt gratitude" to the Prime Minister and said that he was blessed to receive unasked-for aid at the time when he was going through a difficult phase after loosing his father. Paswan said that he hoped these blessings would always remain with him.

"Respected Prime Minister Narendra Modiji, my heartfelt gratitude to you for the cooperation during my father’s last rites. I also want to thank you for arrangements you made during the funeral without being asked to do so. I am going through a difficult phase after the passing away of my father. Thank you for standing by me. May your blessings and affection always remain same.," Chirag Paswan posted in Hindi.



Union Minister and LJP founder Ram Vilas Paswan passed away at the age of 74 on Thursday, October 8 after a prolonged illness. Mourning over his death, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he lost a dear friend.

"I am saddened beyond words. There is a void in our nation that will perhaps never be filled. Ram Vilas Paswan ji’s demise is a personal loss. I have lost a friend, valued colleague and someone who was extremely passionate to ensure every poor person leads a life of dignity," the Prime Minister's tweet read.

Ram Vilas Paswan was hospitalised from past few weeks and underwent a surgery at a private hospital in the national capital. He had been suffering from a heat condition for a long time.

With a rich political experience of over 5 decades, Ram Vilas Paswan was in PM Modi's Union Cabinet ever since he came to power in 2014. Currently, he was holding the portfolio of Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
