Ratnagiri: The massive flooding caused by incessant rain has left scores of locals stranded at Chiplun city in Maharashtra’s Ratnagiri district. With the heavy downpour continues since last night, Chiplun is bearing the brunt even as many areas of Ratnagiri district have also been severely affected.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams with rescue boats have been sent to Chiplun by the state government.

Chiplun has been cut off from the adjoining cities and the local markets, bus stations and railway stations are all submerged in water.
The water levels rose close to ten feet submerging the first floors of several houses and causing distress to the people.
The incessant rain has ravaged the Konkan region for several days causing major rivers in the state’s Ratnagiri and Raigad districts to overflow above the danger mark.
Meanwhile, the rescue operations are in full swing in several districts of the state after relentless rain caused flooding and huge property damage across the Konkan region.
With no end to the downpour, the visuals of waterlogged streets and submerged cars emerged from various places in the state's Konkan region.

Several long-distance trains have been stopped, cancelled or rescheduled on the Konkan Railway route due to incessant rain.
