Children’s Day 2018: Every year November 14 is celebrated as Children’s Day in India. The day is celebrated to pamper them and also commemorate the birthday anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first Prime Minister of India, who was born on November 14, 1889. Nehru was really fond of children and due to his love for kids, he was known as Chacha Nehru. Therefore the day emphasises on the importance of giving love, attention, and affection to children.


It was Chacha Nehru who had said, “The children of today will make the India of tomorrow. The way we bring them up will determine the future of the country.” As per the reports, when it came to children, Nehru was a very strong advocate of the importance of education. He was involved in establishing All India Institute of Medical Sciences, the Indian Institutes of Technology, the Indian Institutes of Management and the National Institutes of Technology.

On this day, schools and colleges host cultural programs, functions and events. Many times teachers also participate in these functions in order to show their love and affection for children.
