Raipur, Chhattisgarh: In a shocking incident, a man was lynched to death in Chhattisgarh’s Mendrakla village on Friday, after he was suspected of being a ‘child-lifter’.
The victim, who is around 40-year-old, was confronted by a group of villagers on Friday morning, who asked questions from him about his identity and his whereabouts.
Failing to answer the questions, the man landed himself in trouble as the villagers had already stared spreading rumors of a gang of child-lifters.
The villagers suspected him of being a part of the gang and assaulted him to death.
Soon after the incident the cops reached the site and began an investigation, which is still underway.
Bunch of people are in custody of police.
As per reports, police have been going to villages and telling them not to believe such suspicions.
