Three individuals have lost their lives, and six others sustained injuries in a bus accident near Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, on Friday. The bus, carrying 40 passengers, was en route to attend a meeting of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Raipur when the incident occurred. Prime Minister Modi was visiting Chhattisgarh on Friday. Among the injured, three are in serious condition and have been admitted to Apollo Bilaspur for treatment.
According to police sources cited by ANI, the accident took place near Bilaspur, and the injured individuals have been admitted to Apollo Bilaspur Hospital for medical care.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel expressed his grief over the incident and extended his wishes for the injured to recover swiftly. He also offered condolences to the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister directed the administration to ensure proper treatment for the injured individuals and announced an ex gratia compensation of Rs 4 lakhs to the families of the deceased.
In a tweet in Hindi, the Chief Minister stated, "We have received the sad news that the bus, which was travelling from Ambikapur to attend the Prime Minister's meeting, met with an accident near Bilaspur. We have learned about the tragic demise of two individuals. May their souls rest in peace, and may their family members find the strength to cope with this loss. Three people have sustained serious injuries, and three others have been injured. We pray for their speedy recovery."
Raman Singh, BJP national vice-president, also expressed his sorrow over the incident. In a tweet in Hindi, he said, "I have received the distressing news that the bus carrying our party workers from Ambikapur to attend the meeting in Raipur met with an accident near Beltara. It is heart-wrenching to learn about the tragic deaths of three individuals in this accident. I pray for peace for the departed souls and a speedy recovery for the injured."
