New Delhi: Two trains moving in opposite directions came close to each other on the monorail platform in Mumbai on Saturday night.


No casualties were reported as the commuters had a close shave. The incident took place in Chembur.

The drivers managed to avert an accident right in time. It took 4 hours to evacuate the passengers.

"We were shocked to see the collision. Three persons fainted because of it. The driver also fainted after suffering a hand fracture," a passenger said.

However, an official of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), told news agency PTI that a power failure on Monorail track in the city led to emergency evacuation of coaches

Due to temporary power outage a train pulling into Chembur station had to be evacuated.

Another rake was sent to tow it away, he said.

The operations are expected to resume today.
