BJP Hints At Maharashtra CM Change, NCP's Jayant Patil Shrugs Claims

Mumbai: Maharashtra Water Resources Minister Jayant Patil on Wednesday dismissed the reports about Maharashtra having a new CM face. Jayant Patil took potshots at Chandrakant Patil over his remarks that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray should hand over the reins to his wife Rashmi Thackeray or son Aditya Thackeray in case he is not able to continue in office due to ill health and said the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief is unnecessarily creating issues as he has nothing to talk about.

“There is nothing like this. Chandrakant Patil has no issues to talk about, so he is unnecessarily creating issues. The health condition of our chief minister is good,” he told ABP in an exclusive conversation.

The Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief further said Chief Minister Thackeray, who recently underwent a surgery, is following all advice, including physio therapy, as recommended by the doctors.

“He has also at least thrice taken part in our Cabinet meeting. So, I think he will definitely attend this session,” he told ABP News in an exclusive conversation.

Taking a jibe at the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government, the Maharashtra BJP chief had earlier said that the Chief Minister must not be rigid and give the charge to his wife or son in case he is not able to work due to ill health.

Chandrakant Patil said that Chief Minister Thackeray, who is missing for more than 45 days due to ill health, should in such a situation hand over the charge to someone else.

Asserting that administration cannot run without a Chief Minister, who is needed for every work, the BJP leader said that someone else should now take this charge.

Continuing his diatribe, Chandrakant Patil said that Aaditya Thackeray is the best choice for the top post in the state if the Shiv Sena has no faith in its alliance partner NCP.

The Maharashtra Chief Minister, who underwent a successful cervical spine surgery at Mumbai’s HN Reliance Hospital on November 12, was discharged earlier this month.

Chief Minister Thackeray, who has been advised to work from home for the next few days post his surgery, however, participated in a cabinet meeting via video conferencing on the eve of the Winter Session of the Maharashtra Assembly earlier on Tuesday.
