New Delhi: In the midst of a controversy over alleged objectionable videos of female students at Chandigarh University, the Chandigarh University issued a statement saying that all the rumors of objectionable videos shot of other girl students are "totally false and baseless."
"All the rumors of objectionable videos shot of other girl students are totally false and baseless. No videos were found of any student which are objectionable except a personal video shot by a girl which was shared by her with her boyfriend," Chandigarh University stated, as quoted by news agency ANI.
After the Mohali Police denied any suicide attempt, the University too said: "There are rumours that 7 girls have committed suicide whereas the fact is that no girl has attempted any such step. No girl has been admitted to hospital in the incident."
Earlier, Students who were protesting on the university campus claimed that after the objectionable videos of female students allegedly went viral and following this, some of them attempted suicide.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said that a high-level inquiry has been ordered and appealed to all to avoid rumours.
"Saddened to hear about the incident pertaining to Chandigarh University... Our daughters are our pride... A high-level inquiry has been ordered into the incident. Whoever is guilty will face strict action... I am in constant touch with the administration... I appeal to all of you to avoid rumours...," he wrote in a tweet in Hindi.
Expressing concern about the incident, Delhi Chief Minister and AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter on Sunday and said that those involved in posting "objectionable" videos of female students at a Punjab university on social media will face the strictest punishment.
Chandigarh University students staged a massive protest in Mohali on Saturday night after allegedly 'leaked objectionable videos' of female students went viral, ANI reported. The accused girl student in the case was apprehended by Punjab Police.

"It is a video that was shot and circulated by a female student. An FIR has been filed in the case, and the accused has been arrested. This incident has not resulted in any deaths. According to medical records, no suicide attempt or death has occurred. One of the students who was taken in an ambulance was anxious, and our team is in contact with her" said Vivek Soni, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mohali.
"Forensic evidence is currently being gathered. So far in our investigation, we've discovered only one video of the accused herself. She has made no other videos of anyone else. Electronic devices and mobile phones have been seized and will be subjected to forensic examination. Aside from the video of one student, no other video has been brought to our attention," he further added.
Previously, Punjab Higher Education Minister Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer ordered a thorough investigation into the matter on Sunday.
