New Delhi: The Central Government has issued guidelines for the upcoming Kumbh Mela in Uttarakhand’s Haridwar and asked all devotees to obtain a compulsory medical certificate from their state. The devotees can obtain the medical certificate from community health centre or district hospital or medical college in their respective states.

All devotees keen to attend the Kumbh Mela have, as per the guidelines which come amidst the coronavirus pandemic, also been asked to register themselves with the Uttarakhand Government.
The National Security Guard (NSG) Commandos will be deployed at the mela to maintain the law and order situation besides ensuring action against the anti-national elements if any.
In the wake of the mela, the Uttarakhand Government had earlier asked the Centre for an additional 20,000 vaccines to tackle the coronavirus threat.
Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Sunday did an on-site inspection of the construction sites during the Kumbh Mela. He was accompanied by Cabinet Minister Madan Kaushik and Chief Secretary Om Prakash.
Rawat said all works are being done in a systematic manner, adding instructions have been given to the officials to complete the work on time.
"The government will meet the expectations of the devotees coming to Haridwar from around the world," ANI quoted Rawat as saying.
He also assured that the government would take all necessary COVID-19 precautions in order to have a safe and grand Kumbh Mela.
Madan Kaushik on his part said the devotees will get to see the cleanliness, faith, religious traditions and folk culture as the Kumbh will be organised with full enthusiasm.
Thousands of pilgrims are expected to visit Haridwar during the mela, which will continue till April. The Maha Kumbh is being held after twelve years this time.
