CBI Arrests Indian Navy Sailor Accused Of Demanding Bribe For False Medical Report

The arrested suspect has been identified as Sanju, H Aralikatti, an Indian Navy sailor.

The Central Bureau of Investigation detained a medical sailor at the Indian Navy Hospital Station (Ashwini Hospital) in Mumbai's Colaba on bribery charges on Monday, news agency ANI reported. The arrested suspect has been identified as Sanju, H Aralikatti, an Indian Navy sailor. A complaint was filed against a Sailor, the Indian Navy Hospital Station (Ashmini Hospital), Colaba, Mumbai, and several unidentified public personnel. It was claimed that the accused demanded unfair benefit in exchange for a positive medical report in the candidates' medical exams. 

INHS Ashwini Hospital was hosting a medical assessment for defence applicants who had completed the written and physical tests.

It was further claimed that the accused requested an excessive benefit of Rs 30,000 and instructed the complainant to transfer the bribe via UPI using his phone number.

"It was alleged that the accused was demanding undue advantage for getting positive medical reports in the medical examination of the candidates and demanded Rs 30,000 in return. Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to the recovery of several incriminating documents related to the Medical Examination of Army aspirants," the probe agency said in an issued statement. 

Searches were undertaken at the accused's residence, which resulted in the acquisition of various damning papers relating to the defense's medical examination.

The alleged suspect was brought before the appropriate court and held in police custody until November 22.
