New Delhi: The CBI on Tuesday conducted searches at around 110 places across 19 States and Union Territories, in a country-wide operation, in connection with cases relation to corruption and arms smuggling.


CBI has registered around 30 separate cases relating to corruption, criminal misconduct, arms smuggling among others.

Searches were conducted in various cities including Bharatpur,Mumbai,Chandigarh, Jammu, Srinagar, Pune,J aipur, Goa, Kanpur, Raipur, Hyderabad, Madurai, Kolkata, Rourkela, Ranchi, Bokaro and Lucknow, and other places in UP, Uttarakhand, Odisha, HP, Punjab, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Bihar, agencies said.

More details are awaited as the search operation is underway and may be expanded during the day, officials said.


This is second massive search operation by the agency in a week. A similar operation was carried out last Tuesday against banking fraud accused. It carried out 'special operation' against banking fraud accused in 18 cities across 12 states.

On Monday, it also carried out searches at 22 locations in West Bengal including the offices and residential premises of promoters and directors of New Land Agro Industries, one of the accused companies in a ponzi scam cases probed by the agency.

In a separate search operation, a couple of days ago, the agency booked Income Tax Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Srivastava, who was recently sacked by the government, for allegedly passing backdated appeal orders to obtain undue benefits.

Searches were carried out by the agency at his residence and office.
