The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked Anil Sharma, managing director of Amrapali Group, and six others in connection with the murder of a former secretary of Bihar's Balika Vidyapeeth in August 2014.


According to NDTV, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) stated that the motivation behind the murder of the Secretary of Balika Vidyapeeth was to acquire the land and assets of the educational institution. According to the CBI, Anil Sharma, the Managing Director of Amrapali Group, along with Rajendra Prasad Singhania, Praveen Kumar Sinha, Shyam Sunder Prasad and Shambhu Sharan Singh, had betrayed the trust of the school.


Anil Sharma, MD of Amrapali Group had usurped the trust of Balika Vidyapeeth with the help of Rajendra Prasad Singhania, Dr. Praveen Kumar Sinha, Shyam Sunder Prasad and Shambhu Sharan Singh," the agency was quoted as stating by IndiaBlooms.


The Secretary had been previously targeted due to his questioning of the school's management, receiving threats and attacks, including damage to his house and being shot at prior to his murder, which occurred while he was reading a newspaper. The investigation was taken over by the CBI on the order of the Patna High Court.


Sharma is out on interim bail, which was extended in October 2022. 


Sharma had been in jail since 2018 after being arrested for various offences, including cheating, criminal breach of trust and money laundering. He has spent nearly four years in prison, according to Economic Times.
