New Delhi: A team of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrived at the residence of Anubrata Mondal, Trinamool Congress' Birbhum district president over a cattle smuggling case, reported news agency PTI. He has been arrested after one and a half hours of interrogation by the investigation agency. He has been arrested for not cooperating in the cattle sumggling case, said the officials, quoted by the news agency.
The TMC leader has been taken for medical test although the location is still not known, reported ABP Ananda adding that he could be produced before Asansol Court today.
On August 8, Mondal had informed the federal probe agency that he would not be able to appear before it in connection with the investigation into the matter, stated a PTI report. As per the report, Mondal, had sent a mail expressing his inability to appear before the agency due to a medical check-up. CBI officials have admitted to receiving Mondal’s email, reported the news agency citing its sources.
The CBI had summoned Mondal, TMC’s Birbhum district president, on August 5 to appear before it on Monday.

The TMC Birbhum district chief was earlier questioned twice by the cental agency as part of its investigation.
The CBI has in the recent past conducted raids at various locations in the district in connection with the case. Mondal’s bodyguard Saigal Hossain has also been arrested by the probe agency.
