New Delhi: In a tragic incident, three individuals, including a driver and two children, were killed in a road accident on the Delhi Meerut Expressway, police said. The incident, which was captured on CCTV, took place on Saturday when a car collided with a stationary truck.


The victims were among eleven students from Amroha district traveling to Jamia Millia Islamia University for a class 6 entrance exam. Tragically, their car crashed into a stationary truck on the expressway, and another truck subsequently hit the vehicle from behind, causing fatal injuries, police said, reported PTI.


Car driver Anas (24) and two students -- Unesh (12) and Azam (13) -- died in the accident, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ziauddin Ahmed said, as per the PTI report.


The horrific accident was caught on CCTV. It can be seen in the video that the cars zoomed through the multilane highway when the SUV collided with the stationary truck on the extreme right, The car spun a couple of times and rammed an oncoming truck, which also turned over.  



The drivers of the two trucks involved fled the scene, leaving the injured children to be attended to by emergency services. However, one driver, Saddam, has been arrested, reported NDTV.


"An Ertiga car carrying 11 children from Amroha to Delhi, collided with a dumper truck. Amid chaos local residents admitted 11 children and the driver to the local hospital," Poonam Mishra, a police officer, told NDTV.


According to the police, the truck was stationary as it ran out of gas.


The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination as authorities continue their investigation into the tragic incident.
