CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from South Delhi, Naresh Yadav was on Saturday named by the police in an FIR related to Malerkotla Quran desecration case.

Yadav was booked by after the alleged mastermind in the case, Vijay Kumar, told the police that “AAP MLA had offered to pay Rs 1 crore to Vijay Kumar for doing the job”.

Vijay Kumar claimed that Yadav approached him and said that his motive is to gain political mileage in the upcoming Assembly elections by instigating communal tension in Punjab.

However, Yadav denied allegations of his involvement in this case.



"These allegations are baseless. When the entire nation is with us and we are all set to win elections then why would we attempt such a thing? Hang me if these allegations are found true," AAP legislature said.
The AAP described the action as political vendetta.

"We do politics of love and brotherhood. The Malerkotla incident has nothing to do with our MLA," AAP national spokesperson Sanjay Singh said.
