Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has lauded India’s efforts to choose the path of dialogue when dealing with the farmers’ protesting against the three farm bills while describing the move as “befitting a democracy”.
MEA official spokesperson Anurag Srivastava briefed the media in this regard.
“On the farmers protest, PM Trudeau commended efforts of the Government of India to choose the path of dialogue as befitting a democracy. He also acknowledged the responsibility of his government in providing protection to Indian diplomatic personnel and premises in Canada,” Srivastava told the media in the national capital.
Earlier on Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi had a telephonic conversation with his Canadian counterpart, who informed him about his country’s requirements of COVID-19 vaccines from India.
Prime Minister Modi on his part assured that India would do its best to support Canada’s vaccination efforts, just as it had done for many other countries already.
Lauding Prime Minister Modi, the Canadian Prime Minister said if the world managed to conquer COVID-19, it would be significantly because of New Delhi's tremendous pharmaceutical capacity and the former's leadership.
Prime Minister Modi thanked him for his sentiments.

The duo also reiterated the common perspective shared by both sides on many important geo-political issues besides agreeing to continue the close collaboration in fighting global challenges like Climate Change and the pandemic's economic impacts.
Both Prime Ministers looked forward to meeting each other in various important international fora later this year and continuing their discussions on all issues of mutual interest.
