New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jyotiraditya Scindia is likely to be inducted in Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Cabinet as the Union Education Minister. Sources have informed ABP News that the former Congress leader will get a plum post in the upcoming Union Cabinet. 


Scindia resigned from Congress in 2020 ahead of a regime change in Madhya Pradesh and joined the BJP.


Earlier in the day, Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tendered his resignation from the Cabinet.

The former Uttarakhand chief minister has reportedly given health reasons in his resignation letter. If sources are to be believed, there are speculations that a few more ministers are on their way out.


Prime Minister Modi is likely to induct 43 ministers in his Cabinet this evening.


The Cabinet expansion, which is likely to take place at 6 p.m., will be the first in Prime Minister Modi’s second term after he came to power in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.  


In the Cabinet expansion this time, preference will be given to the experience of governance and system.


Former Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal is also likely to be inducted into the Cabinet.


Sonowal was replaced by Himanta Biswa Sarma as Assam Chief Minister.
