Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday that the migration due to the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019 will be bigger than what the one that took place at the time of partition.
Addressing a press conference, the Aam Aadmi Party national convener said, "The migration that will happen due to CAA will be bigger than what happened during the partition."
He also reiterated that implementation of CAA will make country unsafe, create law-and-order situation. "Spending taxpayers' money on minorities from other countries not acceptable," he added.
Kejriwal's remark came in response to comments made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In an earlier press conference held this week, AAP chief drew sharp criticism against Modi government over the CAA claiming that more migration will take place than what happened at the time of independence.
He had also said that this would result in the collapse of law and order and subsequently lead to a rise in thefts, robberies, and rape.
Reacting the Kejriwal's assertion Shah said on Thursday that AAP supremo's outburst stemmed from his party's alleged exposure in corruption cases. Shah also said that if Kerjriwal is concerned about national security then he must talk about Bangladeshi infiltrators.
"The Delhi Chief Minister has lost his temper after his party's alleged corruption got exposed," Shah said on Thursday during an interview with ANI.
"He (Kerjiwal) is unaware that all these people have already taken refuge in our country. They are living in India. Those who arrived in our country by 2014 will get citizenship," he added.
