A bus travelling at a high speed collided with a police car that was part of the motorcade for Union Minister Prahlad Patel in Damoh district of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday evening, resulting in three police officers being injured.

The accident took place near Piparia check post on the Damoh-Chhatarpur state highway, located 16 km from Damoh, according to a police official. The Minister of State for Food Processing Industries and Jal Shakti of India was on his way to Damoh from Narsinghgarh after participating in a local event, according to the in-charge of Dehat police station, Amit Mishra.

Upon learning of the accident, Patel left his vehicle and later visited Damoh district hospital to check on the injured police officers. The bus involved in the accident has been impounded, and an investigation is ongoing, Mishra stated.

Patel will attend a conference with the ministers of water resources and related departments from various states on January 5th and 6th in the Madhya Pradesh capital, Bhopal.

Speaking at an event on Monday he said that the conference will be held with the aim of developing a roadmap for addressing the country's water woes and creating a "Water Vision 2047" blueprint for the next 25 years.

This conference, the first of its kind in India, will bring together ministers of water resources, public health engineering, and irrigation from all states to discuss the challenges they face in relation to water and receive input from the states on the Water Vision 2047.

The conference will also seek to improve coordination between the central government and the states on water issues, as water is a state subject in India. The Union minister said the main objective behind organising the conference was to get inputs from various states on the water vision 2047. “As water is a state subject, the conference will strive to build better coordination between the Centre and states,” he added.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat will attend the conference.
