Bulandshahr: One of the prime accused in the killing of Police Inspector Subodh Kumar Singh during a mob violence in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr has been arrested.
The accused has been alleged with hitting the inspector on his head with an axe before he was shot during mob violence incident on December 3 . The police have also recovered an axe from the possession of the accused.
"During interrogation it was revealed that he was the person who attacked Inspector Subodh Kumar with an axe. The axe has been recovered from his possession; other accused persons will be arrested shortly," Atul Kumar Srivastava, Additional SP City, Bulandshahr, said.
An FIR against 27 named people and 50-60 unidentified people was registered at the Siyana police station for the violence at the Chingrawathi police post after cattle carcasses were found strewn outside nearby Mahaw village.
One of the main suspects among the 27 named in the FIR, local Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, is still at large, while an Army jawan, Jitendra Malik, has been arrested and remanded in custody.
In December, the police had claimed to have arrested the man who allegedly shot Subodh Kumar Singh dead during the Bulandshahr violence.
Five people were arrested on December 18 for their alleged roles in the mob violence and the cow-slaughtering cases.
Three of them - Nadeem, Raees and Kaala - were arrested for their alleged involvement in the cow-slaughtering case, while two accused were nabbed by the state special task force (STF) for the subsequent violence after cow carcasses were found in a field. The inspector and a youth had died during the violence.

Subodh Kumar, who was posted at the Siana Police Station, was killed as a mob protesting over illegal cow slaughter went on a rampage torching a police post and clashing with police.
