New Delhi: Rajya Sabha chairman and Vice President M. Venkaiah Nadu will chair a virtual meeting of the floor leaders in the Upper House on January 31 ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament.

The Centre has convened an all-party meeting on January 31 to ensure smooth functioning of the Budget Session of Parliament.


The meeting, convened by Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, will be held virtually in view of the Covid-19 situation.


The floor leaders of political parties in the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha have been invited for the meeting.


The Budget Session will begin on January 31 with President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to both the Houses of Parliament.


The Parliamentary Affairs Minister in a tweet said the first part of the Budget Session will commence on January 31 with President Kovind’s address to both the Houses.


Joshi said Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Union Budget on February 1.


He added that both the Houses of Parliament will function in shifts to ensure Covid safety protocol.


“1st part of the #BudgetSession to commence on 31st January, with address of the Hon'ble President to both the Houses. On 1st February, Hon'ble FM @nsitharaman ji will present the Union Budget. To ensure Covid safety protocol, the two Houses of Parliament will function in shifts,” Joshi tweeted.



The first part of the Budget Session will continue till February 11. The second part of the session will begin from March 14 and conclude on April 8.
