New Delhi: Mayawati suffered a big jolt ahead of Uttar Pradesh polls with senior party leader Swamy Prasad Maurya resigning from Bahujan Samajwadi Party.
The leader of opposition in UP assembly has alleged that party supremo used to "sell party tickets" an allegation which has not been leveled against her for the first time.
“In 2017, it is a do or die situation for the party. Instead of selecting good candidates, who are loyal to the policies of the party, Mayawati is auctioning tickets to the highest bidder,” Maurya said during a press conference.
“She is not 'Dalit ki beti' but 'Daulat ki beti', who has gone astray from the ideologies of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram,” he added.
Maurya has been associated with the BSP for 20 years and had garnered a lot of support of the most backward classes (MBCs).
He played a crucial role in forming the party's base among Kushwahas, Mauryas, Shakyas and Sainis.
