New Delhi: The Border Security Force (BSF) fired at a drone carrying approximately 3.055 kilograms worth of heroin near the Dhanoe Kalan in the Ajnala sub-division of Amritsar district. According to the security official, they heard the sound of the drone at around 3:12 am on Saturday entering Punjab from Pakistan, soon after the troops intercepted it by firing at it.
During the search, they recovered 3 packets suspected to be heroin from a farming field.
Today at about 3:12 am, BSF troops heard the sound of a drone entering from Pakistan into Indian territory in the area near Dhanoe Kalan, Amritsar. Troops intercepted it by firing, news agency ANI reported. During the search, they recovered 3 packets, suspected to be Heroin (Gross wt - 3.055 Kg) from the farming field.
According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the drone carrying the drugs managed to return after dropping the consignment even though the BSF troops fired at it.
The drugs seizure comes just hours after the BSF shot down another Pakistani drone near International Border in Punjab's Gurdaspur district which was used from across the border to supply arms and ammunition.

The hexacopter drone was shot down and recovered along with contraband items by the alert BSF troops at about 12.55 am from the area near Metla village in the Gurdaspur district.
At daybreak, the whole area was cordoned in which police also participated.
During the relentless search, the BSF said its troops could find and recover one drone (hexacopter) along with one AK series Rifle, two magazines, and 40 rounds of live cartridges from a farming field in a depth area near Nabi Nagar village in Gurdaspur.
"Vigilant troops of BSF, once again, foiled nefarious design of drug smugglers," the BSF said, which is responsible to guard the 3,323 km India-Pakistan International Border.
