Mumbai Police Deploys More Than 19,000 Cops For Immersion Of Ganesh Idols Today
Mumbai Police are deploying more than 19,000 personnel, including officers, to thwart any untoward incident when processions will be taken out to immerse idols of Lord Ganesh on Anant Chaturdashi, the last day of the festival, which falls on September 28.
Similar security arrangements will be in force for Eid-e-Milad, which will be marked by organising processions on Friday.
Various Muslim organisations and religious leaders have decided to take out Eid-e-Milad processions on Friday instead of Thursday in view of Anant Chaturdashi on the appeal made by the police.
In addition, 35 platoons of State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), a company of Rapid Action Force, Quick Response Teams (QRTs) and Home Guards will remain present at important locations in the city, he said.
Farmers' Bodies To Hold 3-Day 'Rail Roko' In Punjab From Today
Several farmers' bodies will hold a three-day rail blockade in Punjab from September 28 in support of their demands, including financial package for losses caused by the recent floods, legal guarantee for MSP and debt waiver.
The decision was announced by Sarwan Singh Pandher, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee general secretary, following a meeting of representatives of 19 farmers' bodies.
While most of the farmers' bodies participating in the protest are from Punjab, a few outfits from Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan will also support the agitation.
RLP convener and Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal said the yatra was aimed at changing the ruling dispensation in Rajasthan and forming a government that works for the youth and farmers.
“Our yatra is named ‘Satta Sankalp Vyavastha Parivartan Yatra’ which will start from Salasar Balaji on September 28,” he told reporters here on Sunday.
