Mumbai: 15-year-old boy taken into custody over local train incident

Central Railway's RPF has taken a 15-year-old boy into custody after a local train accident was averted recently wherein it was about to collide with a drum while it was passing near Mumbai's Sandhurst Road railway station.


At that time the motorman of the local train had told that the drum was filled with stones, when he saw that drum on the track, he applied emergency brakes and stopped the train.


Upon investigation, it was found that the drum did not contain a stone and it was stolen from a nearby yard by a 15-year-old boy as the drum was of iron and he would have gotten some money if he sold it.


As soon as the minor saw the train, he left the drum there and fled.

Fuel price rise in India contained in comparison to exponential rise in developed countries: Hardeep Puri

In LPG, In the past 24 months, Saudi CP price (our import benchmark) almost increased by 303%. During the same period, the LPG price in India (Delhi) increased by less than a tenth of that figure by only 28%: Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, as quoted by ANI.



Fuel price rise in India has been contained in comparison to exponential rise in developed countries. Most developed nations have witnessed significant rise in fuel price by almost 40% from July'21 to Aug’22 & in India, fuel price has reduced by 2.12%, he added.

Indian Army Chief General Manoj Pande will visit Ladakh today amid the ongoing disengagement process in the Gogra-Hot Springs area in Ladakh. Pande's visit comes hours after the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Friday said that India and China will complete the disengagement process in the Gogra-Hotsprings area in eastern Ladakh by September 12.


The two sides have also agreed to take the talks forward and resolve remaining issues and restore peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in India-China border areas, the MEA said.

Cong Calls For 'Gujarat Bandh' Today Against Corruption, Unemployment


The Gujarat Congress has called for a symbolic 'bandh' between 8 am and noon on Saturday in the state to protest against price rise, corruption and unemployment, a party functionary said. The 'shutdown' announcement was made by Gujarat Congress in charge Raghu Sharma on August 26 while addressing a press conference in Ahmedabad.


In a statement issued on Friday, Gujarat Congress president Jagdish Thakor appealed to traders, shopkeepers, cloth market workers, associations and small vendors to join the shutdown.


Thakor asked Congress workers to ensure no property is damaged during the bandh and to see that emergency services like ambulances etc are fully operational.
