It is being said that the election of the new Congress President will be held in September 2022. The CWC does not want to change the command before the Assembly elections that are scheduled for next year. 


Apart from that, we are keeping a close tab on the flood situation in Kerala. Early morning reports on Sunday claim that the ongoing floods have taken the life of at least 18 civilians. 


Heavy rains wreaked havoc in many parts in the statewith some people feared missing due to landslides that occurred in hilly areas bordering Kottayam and Idukki districts prompting the state government to seek the assistance of the Army and Air Force for rescue operations. 


Meanwhile, India's External affairs minister S Jaishankar is in Israel today. He is there to cement ties with the Netanyahu government. He is there on the official invitation of Lapid, who is the head of the centrist Yesh Atid party. Lapid is set to be the Prime Minister in 2023. 


In other news close to home, Jammu & Kashmir remains to be on the boil with terror killings as two more non-locals were shot dead by militants in Srinagar and Pulwama districts on Saturday. 13 terrorists killed in nine encounters so far. We keep a close eye on any other encounters happening in J&K.
