ED Questions Sonia Gandhi To Appear Again On Wednesday

The Enforcement Directorate Tuesday questioned Congress President Sonia Gandhi for over six hours on the second day of her appearance in a money laundering case linked to the National Herald newspaper, officials said. Officials said she has been asked to appear again on Wednesday.

The Congress leader had reached the ED office around 11 am with her Z+ armed security cover, and accompanied by her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.   While Priyanka Gandhi stayed back at the ED office, Rahul Gandhi left soon after.

SC Verdict On Pleas Challenging PMLA Provisions Today

The Supreme Court will deliver its judgment on petitions challenging the interpretation of certain provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) on Wednesday, ANI reported. Petitions have challenged the process of arrest, seizure and investigation carried out by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) under PMLA provisions.

More than 100 petitions on various aspects of the PMLA were grouped together and heard by the Supreme Court bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar. The petitioners had argued that the Act gave "unchecked powers to the Enforcement Directorate to arrest, seize property, and force confessions" out of the accused.
