Acting DGP of Himachal Pradesh Satwant Atwal Trivedi said that the government had received information from the Russian Embassy that 15 Russian tourists are stranded in Kasol. "We are trying to establish contact and once we will be able to contact the tourists we will inform the Embassy about their well-being," she said.

Breaking News Live: Woman Kills Two Daughters, Attempts To Hang Self In Gujarat's Vadodara

A 43-year-old woman allegedly killed her two daughters due to financial hardship and attempted to hang herself before being rescued by a neighbour in Gujarat's Vadodara city, police said on Tuesday, as reported by PTI. Daksha Chauhan allegedly poisoned her daughters and later strangled them in their rented accommodation in Karelibaug locality of the city on Monday night, deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Panna Momaya said.


One of the daughters was a Class 9 student, while the other one was in the third-year of a Bachelor’s degree course, she said. "The woman was divorced and lived with her father. She shifted to the rented flat in Karelibaug with her daughters 15 days ago. Unable to deposit the rent and pay the school fees, she poisoned her daughters last night," the official said, as quoted by PTI.

Breaking News Live: Man Killed After His Motorbike Brushes Against 2-Wheeler In Maharashtra's Palghar, 3 Held

Police have arrested three persons for allegedly beating to death a 20-year-old after his motorcycle brushed against their two-wheeler in Maharashtra's Palghar district, an official said, as reported by the news agency PTI. The incident took place on a flyover in Nallasopara area at around 4 pm on Sunday when the victim, Rohit Yadav, was going on the motorbike along with a friend, Assistant Commissioner of Police Chandrakant Jadhav told reporters.


A side mirror of the victim's vehicle accidentally brushed against the motorbike on which three persons were travelling, he said, as reported by PTI. The three persons then stopped Yadav and had an argument with him. They allegedly beat up the duo following which Yadav died, the official said.


After the incident, the police registered a case against Indian Penal Code Sections 302 (murder) and launched a search for the accused.

Breaking News Live: J-K Highway Remains Shut, No Pilgrims Batch To Leave Jammu For Amarnath Today

Authorities said the Amarnath Yatra will remain suspended as no batch of pilgrims will leave Jammu for Kashmir on Tuesday in the wake of closure of the Jammu-Srinagar national highway. "No fresh batch will leave Jammu for Kashmir for their onward journey to Amarnath cave shrine. The yatra will remain suspended", a senior officer told PTI here.


This is being done in view of the closure of the highway for undertaking work for complete restoration of damaged stretches.


More than 7,000 pilgrims are stranded in Jammu, particularly at the Bhagwatinagar base camp, while over 5,000 are stuck at the Chanderkot base camp in Ramban district.


Traffic authorities also issued an advisory in which they said collective efforts from the administration and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), put in throughout the day, resulted in substantial improvement in the road condition.

West Bengal Panchayat Elections: Counting Of Votes Today


The counting of votes for the West Bengal Panchayat elections will begin at 8 am on Tuesday. The polling for the three-tier panchayati raj system concluded on Monday after the State Election Commission announced repolling at 696 polling stations. The polling, which took place on Saturday, in over 61,000 booths, as per the planned schedule started at 7 am but was marred with incidents of violence, tampering of ballot boxes and papers, and booth capturing.


The rural body polls are being seen as a litmus test for the TMC ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha election, in West Bengal after a month of violence and court interventions. The polls come at a time when the Mamata Banerjee-led ruling party in the state is facing various charges of corruption and a number of its leaders have been arrested by CBI and ED. 


MP: Amit Shah To Attend BJP Meeting In Bhopal Today


Union Home Minister Amit Shah will attend a BJP meeting in Bhopal on Tuesday, a party office-bearer said. Shah will arrive at around 7.30 pm. He will remain present in the state BJP office till late hours, the office-bearer said without elaborating. Shah is scheduled to fly back to Delhi around Tuesday midnight, he said.


The visit assumes significance in view of the MP assembly polls due later this year.


SC To Hear On July 11 Manipur Govt’s Plea Against HC Order On Restoration Of Internet

The Supreme Court on Monday agreed to hear on July 11 the Manipur government's plea against the high court order on the limited restoration of the internet in the state. A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha agreed to hear the plea on Tuesday after Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought an urgent listing of the matter, saying the situation in the state keeps changing very fast. This is concerning the internet shutdown in Manipur.


The situation in the state keeps changing very fast. The appeal is against the high court order where it has directed the restoration of internet service.
