Rajya Sabha To Take Up Discussion On Price Rise


The government has agreed for a discussion in the Rajya Sabha on rising prices of essential commodities on Tuesday. Amid protests by the Opposition, Leader of the House and Union minister Piyush Goyal appealed to the protesting members to allow legislative business and Question Hour to function smoothly as the debate on price rise is listed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.


"The Opposition had collectively assured us once the date is finalised and listed, we will allow the House to run properly. Many members have important issues and I appeal to members from the Opposition to allow the House to function smoothly," Goyal said.


Maharashtra Police's Mumbai-Delhi Cycle Rally To Kick-Off Today


Maharashtra police has organised a cycle rally from Mumbai to national capital Delhi as part of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav', a series of celebrations across the country to mark 75 years of Independence. The cycle rally will begin from the state police headquarters in Colaba and will be flagged off by Director General of Police Rajnish Seth, PTI reported.


"The 1,557-kilometre rally is spread over 12 days and will pass through Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh before concluding in Delhi on August 13. The rally team will be present for flag hoisting at Delhi's Red Fort on Independence Day," an official said.


Explosives In Supertech's Illegal Towers To Be Placed From Today


The process to place explosives within the Supertech's illegal twin towers is scheduled to begin from Tuesday under heavy security cover, PTI quoted officials as saying. The twin towers in Noida's sector 93A are scheduled to be razed on August 21 in compliance with a supreme Court order. Over 3,500 kgs of explosive will be filled within 9,400 holes drilled in the columns and sheers of the nearly 100-metre tall twin towers.
