Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences over the death of noted Hindi and Bhojpuri poet, lyricist and litterateur Pandit Hariram 'Hari Bhaiya' Dwivedi after a prolonged illness, his family said on Tuesday. He was 87.
"I am saddened by the demise of Pandit Hariram Dwivedi, the great creator of Hindi literature and resident of Kashi. With poetry collections like Anganaiya and Jeevandayini Ganga and his various compositions, he will always be present in our lives.
This is my prayer to God that he should find a place at His feet", the prime minister posted on X.
According to his family members, Dwivedi -- who had been ailing for a long time, died on Monday afternoon at his residence in the Mahmoorganj area of this Uttar Pradesh district. His last rites will be performed at Manikarnika Ghat on Tuesday.
Dwivedi's family members said the multiple award-winning poet had been unwell for several months. His health worsened late on Sunday and he succumbed the following day.
"I have submitted my resignation to state party chief and (Odisha) CM Naveen Patnaik. I have been associated with the party (BJD) ever since it was established. I got the chance to serve as BJD MLA (5 times) and minister (2 times), but I did not get ticket in 2019 (Assembly) elections. PM Modi, UAE President To Lead Roadshow Today Ahead Of Vibrant Gujarat Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will lead a road show on Tuesday from outside the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here a day ahead of the inauguration of Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, officials said.
The 3-km-long roadshow will start in the evening after the PM receives the UAE President at the airport, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic-East), Ahmedabad city, Safin Hasan.
"The roadshow will culminate at Indira Bridge, which connects Ahmedabad with Gandhinagar. From the bridge circle, both dignitaries will head to their respective destinations in Gandhinagar," Hasan told reporters.
Amit Shah To Visit Jammu Today To Take Part In Development Programmes
Union Home Minister will visit Jammu on Tuesday during which he will attend a number of development-related programmes and flag off an e-bus service in the city, officials said.
This will be Shah's first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after terrorists ambushed two army vehicles, killing five soldiers and injuring two others at Poonch on December 21.
The home minister will visit Jammu on January 9 during which he will chair a review meeting on comprehensive development of Jammu and Kashmir, a home ministry official said.
Besides, Shah will launch the 'Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra', a central government initiative, flag off an e-bus service and inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development works.
The home minister will also distribute appointment letters to the youths selected for different government jobs, the official said.
Strike For Better Pay: Buses To Be Off Roads In Tamil Nadu from Today
State-run buses will be off roads from January 9 as unions of transport workers announced a strike after talks with the government failed on Monday.
While the workers are set to go on strike from January 9, workers in some parts of the state commenced it by evening.
The trade unions seek implementation of '6 point charter of demands.' It includes initiation of talks for enhanced wages (15th wage revision pact), filling vacant posts, and release of pending Dearness Allowance for those in service and retired workers.
Transport Minister S S Sivasankar said the demands will be met in due course when the financial situation improves.
