The government on Friday extended by six months till March 2022 the deadline to link PAN with biometric ID Aadhaar.
In a statement, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) said to address the hardship being faced by various stakeholders on account of the COVID-19 pandemic, the timeline has been extended which will ease compliance.
"Time limit for intimation of Aadhaar number to the Income tax Department for linking of PAN with Aadhaar has been extended from 30th September, 2021 to 31st March, 2022," it said.
"Concessional GST rates on COVID-19 related medicines were announced earlier, applicable till Sep 30. The concessions have now been extended till Dec 31, 2021," Sitharaman said.
"There are some life-saving drugs not connected with Covid-19 but are very expensive, for which exemptions are being given. There wouldn't be GST on them - Zolgngelsma and Viltepso costing around Rs. 16 crore will now be exempted from GST," Sitharaman announced.
Militants on Friday shot dead a policeman in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, officials told news agency PTI. At about 6.05 pm, terrorists fired at a police personnel, identified as Banto Sharma (Follower) of Wanpoh, and injured him, they said.
The officials said Sharma was shifted to a hospital but succumbed to injuries. The area has been cordoned off and a hunt launched to nab the attackers, they said.
Administering at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine to the eligible population in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab where assembly elections are scheduled to be held next year is on the priority list of the government, according to official sources told news agency PTI.
"Inoculating eligible people in states like Uttar Pradesh and Punjab where assembly elections are to be held next year with at least one dose of COVID-19 vaccine is on the priority list of the government," a source said.
The BCCI on Friday announced the appointment of the All-India Junior Selection Committee.

In view of farmers' protest held by Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) to mark the one year of enactment of Agricultural laws, the Delhi Traffic Police have closed several roads and borders and diverted routes.
The Delhi Traffic Police on Friday shut the access to the multiple roads leading to the Delhi border using barricades and asked commuters to avoid routs including Jharoda Kalan area, Gurdwara Rakabganj Road, RML Hospital, G Traffic on PO, Ashoka Road and Baba Kharak Singh Marg.
Police asked Delhiites to refrain from using these routes and said that officials have been directed to enhance patrolling in the area.
