West Bengal Election 2021: Trinamool Congress May Issue Manifesto Tomorrow

The ruling Trinamool Congress party may release its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections tomorrow. Sources have revealed the update while Trinamool is yet to make any official announcement about the same. TMC was supposed to release its manifesto on Thursday, but it was postponed after party supremo and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was injured in Nandigram on Wednesday evening. 

Yashwant Sinha May Join TMC

Former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha is likely to join Trinamool Congress. He has reached the party headquarters on Saturday and is expected to be formally inducted into the party.

India Records 24,882 New Covid-19 Cases

India reports 24,882 new Covid-19 cases, 19,957 recoveries, and 140 deaths in the last 24 hours. The figure is concerning as India has crossed the 24,000-mark in fresh infections after December 24. 

Currently, Total cases are 1,13,33,728; Total recoveries are at 1,09,73,260; Active cases are 2,02,022 and Death toll is 1,58,446.

Initial discussion to shortlist names of the party candidates for the upcoming West Bengal Assembly polls began at BJP president JP Nadda's residence on Thursday.


Meanwhile, the Chief Secretary of West Bengal submitted a report to the Election Commission on Friday regarding the alleged attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.


The report sent by the Bengal government to the Election Commission does not mention the claim of attack by four-five people. An official of the State Election Commission revealed the development. However, the presence of a large crowd at the scene has been mentioned in the report.


In the first meeting of the Indo-Pacific alliance - Quad - the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed, it has been agreed upon that American Covid vaccines will be manufactured in India with the financial support of Japan and logistical support by Australia.


Quad decided to expand the coronavirus vaccine manufacturing capacity in India with all the leaders being firm with the commitment. It is being reported that India is likely to increase its manufacturing capacity by 1 billion doses by next year. Currently, India manufactures two vaccines - Covieshield and Covaxin - to battle the coronavirus.
