After a video of passengers eating on the tarmac at Mumbai Airport went viral on social media, the Union Minister of Civil Aviation Sh Jyotiraditya Scindia held a meeting with all ministry officials at midnight yesterday. In the early hours of 16th January 2024, MoCA's Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) issued show cause notices to Indigo and Mumbai Airport.
According to the notices, “both Indigo and MIAL were not proactive in anticipating the situation and making the appropriate facilitation arrangements for passengers at the airport”. For instance, “the aircraft was allotted a remote bay C-33 (instead of a Contact Stand - an aircraft parking stand that is suitable for walking passengers to and from an aircraft from an allocated boarding gate), which further added to passenger woes and deprived them the opportunity to avail basic facilities like rest rooms and refreshments at the terminal”.

PM Modi To Visit Andhra Pradesh, Kerala On Jan 16 And 17
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day trip to Andhra Pradesh and Kerala from Tuesday to launch a number of development projects, including the New Dry Dock and the International Ship Repair Facility at the Cochin Shipyard Limited.
The PMO said Modi will visit Sri Sathya Sai District in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and inaugurate the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN).
He will interact with officer trainees of the 74th and 75th batches of the Indian Revenue Service (Custom & Indirect Taxes) as well as officer trainees of the Royal Civil Service of Bhutan.
On Wednesday, PM Modi will offer prayers at Guruvayur and Thriprayar Shree Ramaswami temples in Kerala before inaugurating important infrastructure projects related to the ports, shipping, and waterways sector, the PMO said.
Skill Development Case: SC To Deliver Verdict On Chandrababu Naidu's Plea On Tuesday
The Supreme Court is scheduled to deliver on January 16 its verdict on former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu's plea challenging the high court order refusing to quash the FIR against him in the Skill Development Corporation scam case.
Naidu was arrested on September 9 last year for allegedly misappropriating funds from the Skill Development Corporation when he was the chief minister in 2015, causing a purported loss of Rs 371 crore to the state exchequer. Naidu has denied the allegations.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court had on November 20 last year granted him regular bail in the case.
An apex court bench comprising Justices Aniruddha Bose and Bela M Trivedi had on October 17 last year reserved its verdict on Naidu's plea challenging the September 22, 2023, high court order refusing to quash the FIR against him in the case.
ED Summons BRS Leader Kavitha For Questioning In Delhi Excise Policy Case On Tuesday
The Enforcement Directorate has summoned BRS leader K Kavitha for a fresh round of questioning in connection with its probe into the Delhi excise policy-linked money laundering case, official sources said on Monday.
The 45-year-old daughter of former Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao has been asked to depose before the agency in Delhi on Tuesday, they said.
Sources, however, said that she may not depose before the agency and has communicated her decision to the investigating officer through an email.
"There is a Supreme Court order that has said that the ED cannot summon K Kavitha in this case," her lawyer Nitesh Rana told PTI.
