Breaking News LIVE: Petrol Diesel Prices Hiked In India After Four Months

The rate of petrol and diesel prices were hiked in India on Tuesday after a gap of four months. The price of both petrol and diesel was hiked by 80 paise per litre.




The rate of petrol in the country's capital Delhi is 96.21 per litre today while that of diesel is 87.47 per litre. In the country's financial capital Mumbai, the petrol and diesel prices have increased to 110.82/litre and 95.00per litre, respectively. As for Kolkata and Chennai, petrol and diesel cost 105.51 and 90.62 and 102.16 and 92.19 respectively in Chennai.


Breaking News LIVE: Cyclone Asani To Make Landfall In Myanmar

A cyclonic storm brewing over the North Andaman Sea on Monday skirted the Andaman Islands and was headed for a landfall near the port city of Thandwe in Myanmar, the India Meteorological Department said.

The weather system, which had developed as a low pressure area last week, intensified into a deep depression on Monday, prompting the weather office to sound a pre-cyclone watch for the Andaman Islands.








"It is likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the next 12 hours," the IMD said in a bulletin at 9 pm on Monday.

The weather system will be named Asani, as suggested by Sri Lanka, once it turns into a cyclonic storm.

"It would continue to move nearly northwards away from Andaman Islands and cross Myanmar coast between latitude 18 Degree North & 19 Degree North around Thandwe (Myanmar) during early hours of March 23," according to a national bulletin issued by the IMD.

Pramod Sawant will return as the Chief Minister of Goa for a second term, said Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday.

China's Plane Crash


On Monday, China's Boeing 737 aircraft, which had taken off from Kunming and was headed for Guangzhou, crashed in Tengxian County in the city of Wuzhou, causing a mountain fire. The plane was carrying 123 passengers and 9 flight crew members.


After the tragic incident, the DGCA has placed the Boeing 737 fleets of Indian carriers under "enhanced surveillance".


SpiceJet, Vistara, and Air India Express are three Indian airlines that have Boeing 737 aircraft in their fleets, news agency PTI reported.


Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) chief Arun Kumar told PTI that it was taking "a number of initiatives" in the aftermath of Monday's tragedy.


Russia-Ukraine Conflict


US President Joe Biden has added a stop in Poland for urgent talks with NATO and European allies, as Russian forces concentrate their fire upon cities and trapped civilians in a nearly month-old invasion of Ukraine.


Biden will first travel to Brussels and then to Poland on Friday to meet with leaders there, press secretary Jen Psaki informed in a statement, as reported by The Associated Press (AP).


Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine began about a month ago, an estimated 6.5 million people have been displaced within the nation, while another 3.2 million have fled owing to safety concerns.
