The Bombay High Court quashed an FIR filed against a man by his wife on Wednesday, which stated the marital life of the women was poorly hit due to too much stress during the early days of the coronavirus pandemic in Maharashtra.

The two-judge bench of Justices SS Shinde and MS Karnik expressed their happiness after quashing the FIR as the couple decided to patch up and move ahead. The bench decided to speak to the couple directly after being informed by the lawyers. The woman who registered the case against her husband, alone connected through video-conferencing was present in the hearing.

While, the husband who works at a government-run hospital and was on duty, was not able to attend the hearing, as the court expressed the will to interview him too. The women who hail from Pune, told the Court, "In March and April when the coronavirus-related work had increased in hospitals, there was too much of stress. We were working 18 hours every day and this led to a lot of misunderstanding."

After which she went on to file a case of domestic violence case against her husband in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area of Pune.

The woman, who worked as a microbiologist informed the court that the couple got married 20 years ago and have two kids. On being asked, whether she is voluntarily quashing the case, to which the woman replied that it was a voluntary decision and she had even come back to live in her marital residence with her husband and children in September itself.

Speaking about the case, Justice Shinde took the reference of his friend who works in government-run hospitals and told how stressed everyone was during the pandemic.

"We have tremendous respect for doctors and the work that they have done in such times,” he further added.

After the bench was satisfied with the interview and decided to quash the FIR, one of the lawyers interrupted. After which, Justice Shinde told his final decision to quash the case and did not want to hear it anymore. Wishing the couple a better future, the Bombay high court quashed the FIR.
