The Mumbai Police Control Room on Sunday reportedly received a call regarding a possible bomb threat to a McDonald’s fast-food establishment in Dadar. According to an ANI report, the caller said he was travelling on a bus when he overheard a conversation between two people "about blowing up McDonald's".
After the call, Mumbai Police said, they quickly mobilised resources to address the threat but an investigation revealed no suspicious object. The police said they will investigate the matter further.
Several Bomb Hoaxes In Recent Days
The alleged Mumbai threat comes weeks after about 200 schools in Delhi-NCR received a hoax bomb threat via email, leading to widespread panic among students and parents. Bomb disposal squads and fire tenders were pressed into service following the threat, and parents were asked to pick up their wards from school.
Delhi Education Minister Atishi urged the parents to remain calm, adding that the Delhi government is in constant touch with the police and schools.
"Students have been evacuated and those premises are being searched by Delhi Police. So far nothing has been found in any of the schools," Atishi added.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena also took to X and said that he has sought a detailed report on the incident and directed Delhi Police to carry out a thorough search of school premises, identify the culprits, and ensure there are no lapses.
He said the culprits will not be spared.
In a joint operation, the National Security Guard (NSG) conducted drills with Delhi Police to ensure preparedness.
