New Delhi: A bomb threat call was sent for a Dubai-bound private carrier on Saturday after which the checks were performed to find out if any explosive items were planted in the aircraft.
An anonymous call was received at the police control room in this regard and the airport police were alerted, news agency PTI reported officials as saying.
Subsequently, security agencies began searches inside the Indigo aircraft that was ready for departure at 7.20 am with around 160 passengers, airport officials informed.
The bomb threat call turned out to be a hoax, authorities said told PTI.
"Following the anonymous call received at the police control room, a thorough check was undertaken by the security agencies to ascertain if any explosive items were planted in the Indigo aircraft," airport officials said.
Officials and others heaved a sigh of relief as no such items were found on the aircraft.
Subsequently, the flight which was supposed to leave at 7.20 am will proceed towards its destination later in the day, PTI reported officials as saying.
Around 170 passengers and crew members of the flight were provided accommodation.
An inquiry has been initiated to trace the caller.
