New Delhi: A boilder blast at a chemical factory in Gujarat's Vadodara killed a four-year-old girl and three others on Friday. The incident also left 11 people injured, PTI quoted a police official as saying.


A 65-year-old man, a teenager and a 30-year-old woman are among the deceased, PTI reported. 


Inspector of Makarpura police station Sajid Baloch said the four of them were either declared brought dead or died during treatment.


"A powerful blast ripped through the area around 9.30 am. Fifteen persons were found injured and they were rushed to nearby hospitals. Four of them were either declared brought dead or died during treatment," PTI quoted Sajid Baloch as saying.

The people who died in the incident were passing by from the area when the blast occurred.


"The four persons died either due to burn injuries or after getting hit by some flying objects. A forensic team has reached the spot to investigate the cause of the blast," Baloch said.


Traffic on the Vadsar Railway overbridge was also stopped for a brief period of time following the blast.


The incident comes a week after a fire broke out at Gujarat Fluoro Chemicals Ltd in Ranjitnagar following an explosion. Five workers died in the incident, PTI reported. Sixteen other workers were injured in the explosion. Some of them received severe burn injuries.


According to the district administration and police, the explosion inside the MPI-1 unit of the INOX-owned refrigerant manufacturing plant was heard several kilometres away.
