Farmer Protest: After the end of the Kisan movement, the year-long protest by the farmers against the three farm laws that were passed by the government in September 2020, Bharatiya Kisan Union leader Rakesh Tikait has received a warm welcome in Punjab. Thousands of people rushed to Matka Chowk in Chandigarh to welcome Rakesh Tikait. Tikait claimed that unity enabled farmers to win a crucial battle against the central government.

Labh Singh, popularly known as Babaji in Punjab, also welcomed Rakesh Tikait at Matka Chowk. Before celebrating their victory, the farmers remembered those who lost their lives during the movement. Farmers had also arranged DJs at Matka Chowk to celebrate their victory. People who arrived here were seen dancing to the music.

The leaders of the movement revealed the reason for their success. Farmer leaders said, “This movement has taught us the lesson of living with love and unity. We have rediscovered how brotherhood and unity are most important during the struggle.”
