An armed gunmen on Thursday shot and killed a local BJP official in front of the general public in a clothing store in the Sadar Bazaar neighbourhood, news agency PTI reported.
According to the police, the son of the deceased, who was also vice president of the Sohna market committee, implicated one of his relatives and several of his friends of the murder.
The attackers were allegedly seen on tape by the CCTV systems set up at the Raymond shop where the murder took place, according to the police.
Five attackers were seen on camera exiting the showroom after shooting their victim, two of them were wearing black t-shirts, one wearing a white check shirt, one wearing a hat, and one wearing a red shirt.
According to authorities, four of them were wearing masks, while the fifth had his face concealed by a white towel.
According to authorities, the dead was identified as Sukhbir Khatana, also known as Sukhi, a native of the hamlet of Rithoj. He resided in Bhondsi's Maruti Kunj.
When Khatana and his buddy Rajender arrived to the Raymond Showroom on Gurudwara Road in a Kia vehicle at approximately 3.20 p.m., the event took place. They left the car parked close to the showroom and entered to shop.
“Sukhbir bought some clothes and made the payment through a card. In the meantime, four-five armed men barged into the showroom and opened indiscriminate fire at Sukhbir,” Rajender, an eyewitness and the friend who accompanied Khatana inside the showroom, informed PTI.
“After firing several shots, the accused fled away,” he said.
Khatana was transported in serious condition to the adjacent Aarvi hospital, where medical staff pronounced him "brought dead." With assistance from the Forensic Science Lab and a crime scene team, a police team headed by DCP (West) Deepak Saharan investigated the area.
According to sources, Khatana was close to Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, and was getting ready to run for Zila Parishad office in Sohna.
Khatana worked for the RSS, according to what his Facebook page said. He had changed his Facebook profile photo three hours before the murder.
Anurag, the son of Khatana, said in his lawsuit that Chaman, Khatana's brother-in-law, killed his father along with others of his friends.
At the Civil Lines Police Station, Chaman and others were arrested and charged with violating sections 302 (murder) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC as well as sections 25-54-59 of the Arms Act.
Police stated that the postmortem will take place on Friday.
“We have formed special teams including the crime unit team which are conducting raids in search of the accused. Most of the accused have been identified and they will be arrested as early as possible,” Saharan was quoted by PTI in its report.
