New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday took a swipe at Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav over his tweet extending “Ram Navami” wishes on a day when “Maha Navami” is being celebrated.

Criticising the SP chief with a screenshot of the deleted tweet, the ruling party described him as “naya naya Hindu”.

Earlier in the day, Akhilesh Yadav extended “Ram Navami” greetings to people on Twitter.

As the mistake over the same was pointed out, the tweet was deleted and a new one on “Maha Navami” was posted on his Twitter account.

However, the ruling BJP has not let the mistake slide as it attempted to draw netizens’ attention towards the same by tweeting screenshots.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the official Twitter handle of the Uttar Pradesh BJP posted tweets attacking Akhilesh Yadav, the latter accused him of being a “naya naya Hindu (new Hindu)”.

Senior Congress leader Anand Sharma also appears to have made the same mistake as he wished people for Ram Navami.

The BJP’s attacks come as former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav on Thursday claimed that “Fake Baba will be removed soon”.

Levelling accusations against the Adityanath government, he said: “This government has cheated the public. Under this government, inflation has increased, unemployment has increased, corruption has increased, crime has increased, law and order have collapsed”, news agency ANI reported.

While interacting with reporters in Kanpur Dehat district, Akhilesh Yadav also expressed confidence that his party can win 400 assembly seats in the upcoming 2022 state assembly election.
