New Delhi: The BJP on Saturday slammed the Congress over an incomplete India map while trying to mock Prime Minister Narendra Modi in its latest parody on social media. An animated video posted by the grand old party on its X (formerly Twitter) account shows the entire northeast region missing from the country’s map.

Sharing a screenshot of the video on his X account, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said in the Congress’s effort to mock PM Modi, it had struck a deal to sell the entire northeast region to some neighbouring country.

“Seems the Congress party has secretly struck a deal to sell the entire land of North East to some neighbouring country. Is this why Rahul went abroad? Or has the party given membership to Sharjeel Imam,” CM Sarma wrote.

Notably, Sharjeel Iman is a student activist who was arrested in a case under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for alleged conspiracy behind the 2020 riots in New Delhi during the anti-Citizenship Amendment Act. He has been in custody since January 28, 2020.

The Congress posted a video on its social media account with two animated characters resembling Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Rahul Gandhi. The grand old party tried to re-create a scene from 1975 Bollywood movie ‘Deewar’ borrowing the “mere paas maa hain” cult dialogue between Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor.

In the parody, the animated figure of PM Modi is pictured as Amitabh Bachchan and Rahul Gandhi as Shashi Kapoor, wherein the former says “I have ED, police, power, money, friends... what do you have?", and Gandhi replies, “I have the entire country with me.”

Taking a potshot at Congress over the video, BJP IT Cell in-charge Amit Malviya tweeted, “After Kashmir, Congress has now cut out whole of Northeast (NE) from India’s map in their official video. Is handing over the NE to China a part of the MoU Rahul Gandhi signed with the Chinese? Balkanisation of India is Rahul Gandhi’s unstated agenda. He is dangerous and devious.”

“Congress and the Tukde Tukde gang have the same agenda: to cut off the Northeast. And gift it to China? This kind of nefarious politics is dangerous for India’s sovereignty and integrity. Rahul Gandhi is dangerous and devious,” he added.
