Jharkhand: In an outrageous incident, a Bharatiya Janta Party worker in Jharkhand washed the feet of party MP from Gonda, Nishikant Dubey, and later drank the water with which his feet were washed. The incident took place amid thousands of party workers and spurred a massive controversy.

The incident raised sparks as several reactions were poured over the incident and the MP was cornered by his own party MPs over the incident.

But Nishikant Dubey remained defiant over the incident and instead hailed the party worker over his act. He also justified the act saying ‘Washing the feet of the guest is a part of old Jharkhand ritual and the party worker had sworn that he would do so, hence he did. This should not be given a political colour’.

He further questioned if lord Krishna didn’t wash feet in Mahabharata. “Shame on bad mentality” he added.

MP Dubey cornered by party:

The act is being condemned by various party leaders like party leaders. Speaking on the incident, in an exclusive conversation with ABP News, BJP MP Udit Raj said that “such actions send wrong message to the people”. He further said that Nishikant Dubey “Should have stopped the party workers from doing such a thing”.

Congress slams Dubey over the act:

Opposition on the other hand condemned the incident. Slamming BJP over the incident Congress leader said that “This reflects the mentality of the Bharatiya Janta Party”. “It also promotes casteism and inequality”.
