New Delhi: While the West Bengal government and centre are already in a fix over the rejected tableau of the state by the centre, the state Cm has sparked a new row of allegations on the central government saying that the centre promised to work on Netaji’s whereabouts but did not do anything after coming to power.

“Till today we don't know about Netaji's whereabouts. They (Centre) had said that when they come to power, they will work on it but nothing happened. In fact, we (state) have released & declassified all files on Netaji Bose,” Banerjee said.

She was speaking at an event commemorating the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at Kolkata. She further said, “Why so allergic to Bengal? You (Centre) rejected the Bengal tableau (for Republic Day)...You are making (Netaji) statue (in Delhi) because we pressurised you.”

In her address to the people, she referred to the files related to Bose which were released by the West Bengal government in 2015. Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s death and the circumstances have never been cleared even after more than 70 years of his disappearance.

Banerjee’s comment came on the anniversary of the freedom fighter which was earlier declared as Prakram Diwas by the central government.

The Prime Minister had also announced that the Republic Day celebrations will commence from January 23 rather than 24 from this year onwards to accommodate the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

This evening, the PM will also unveil a hologram statue of Netaji at the India Gate. The virtual statue will be in place until the real granite statue is completed.
