Sonali Phogat alleged that the officer used derogatory language against her. The incident took place in Balsamand village of Hisar district when Phogat, who had lost to former chief minister Bhajan Lal’s son Kuldeep Bishnoi from Adampur in 2019 Assembly polls, had gone to the local grain market. In the video, Phogat could be seen hitting Singh repeatedly with her slipper while saying, "You have no right to live. Do I work to listen to your abuses? Is there no sister or mother at your home?”
In another video, she was also seen slapping the government official.
The police registered FIRs against both parties as they filed cross-complaints against each other.
SP Ganga Ram Punia said that an FIR under Section 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC had been filed against Sonali and others on the complaint of the market committee secretary.
According to local media reports, Phogat blamed Singh for opposing her during the Adampur election and when he tried to resolve the confusion Phogat started thrashing him with her slippers and started blaming him falsely of the abuse while two of her supporters videographer the whole incident.
