New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that the BJP will win only one seat in Uttar Pradesh. During a joint poll meeting in Prayagraj with Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav, Rahul said, "Have you heard (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi is winning only one BJP seat of Kyoto (Varanasi) in Uttar Pradesh?"

Rahul Gandhi noted that PM Modi had earlier promised to transform Varanasi into a picturesque town like Kyoto in Japan. The Prayagraj rally was held in support of I.N.D.I.A bloc candidate Ujjwal Raman Singh, a Congress member is contesting from the Allahabad constituency.

"The fight is to save the Constitution. The BJP and the RSS are attacking it, and I want to tell them that no power can tear and throw the Constitution away," Gandhi said while waving a copy of the Indian Constitution, reported PTI.

Gandhi reiterated the promises made by the Congress, appealing to voters to support the party's candidate. He pledged to enact a law ensuring a minimum support price (MSP) for farm produce and to provide assistance to unemployed youth.

Speaking before Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav accused the BJP of endangering people's lives and threatening the Constitution. Yadav claimed that the BJP jeopardised public safety with the Covid vaccine, and now seeks to dismantle the Constitution, according to a PTI report.

Akhilesh Yadav promised that the youth would receive jobs if the I.N.D.I.A bloc forms the government at the Centre. He also pledged to revoke the Agniveer recruitment scheme in the armed forces, and restore permanent job opportunities.
