Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, accused the BJP of registering bogus complaints to stymie the governing Aam Aadmi Party's work in the national capital, news agency PTI reported. Lt Governor V K Saxena granted his approval to the Anti-Corruption Branch to investigate claims of anomalies in the construction of seven temporary hospitals during the Covid outbreak.
After LG's approval to investigate the 'corruption' in building hospitals, Sisodia said, "We are a hardcore honest government and we are not scared of any investigation. The BJP is filing such complaints to stop the work being carried out by the Delhi government in various sectors."
Addressing the media, Sisodia claimed, "This is an old complaint and former L-G Anil Baijal had dismissed it. However, the new L-G has given a nod to probe the matter."
Sisodia advised Saxena not to rely on the BJP's charges and instead seek corruption complaints from the general people.
"Please follow due procedure but do not put obstacles in government's work," Sisodia said.
Manoj Tiwari, a BJP MP from Northeast Delhi, had claimed that the Arvind Kejriwal administration had granted tenders for the building of seven temporary hospitals for Rs 1,216 crore, which was then escalated to Rs 1,256 crore.
