Uttar Pradesh: With only months left for 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Chief Minister Minister Yogi Adityanath has been making several efforts to mend his party’s stereotyped image by spending nights in Dalit villages and encouraging his ministers to do the same; his ally Bharatiya Samaj Party National head Om Prakash Rajbhar has made a controversial statement, which could create problems for BJP.

Speaking against liquor consumption, Rajbhar on Saturday said “Rajputs and Yadav’s consume maximum amount of liquor”.

Rajbhar was attempting to explain the perils of the family, whose son comes drunk and uses foul language in front of his wife, daughter and sister.  But, trying to say something good, Rajbhar made a very controversial statement.

This is not the first time Rajbhar has made such a statement. Even earlier, he had made a controversial remark saying, “if someone offers you liquor, consume it and ask for me; and if the person refuses to give you more, and then say jai suheil dev”.

Rajbhar, who currently has strained relations with BJP; has not given clarification on his statement.
