New Delhi: Two people were shot at by unidentified persons in Bihar’s capital Patna on Saturday, news agency ANI reported.
According to the report, the incident took place in the Jyoti Path locality under the Ramkrishna Nagar police station of the city. Among the injured was a woman.
Police reached the spot on receiving information about the firing in the area and rushed the injured to a nearby hospital.
“Police reached the spot as soon as the information was received. The culprits have not been identified. According to the information, two people have been shot. Investigation on the matter is underway,” ANI quoted Inspector Shambhu Nath Singh as saying.
A manhunt operation has been launched by the city police to nab the accused. However, no arrests have been made so far in the case, police said, adding the reason behind the incident is yet to be ascertained.
It is to be noted that the incidents of gun violence are on a rise in Bihar. It is the second such incident reported in the state in two days.
Earlier, on late Wednesday, two farmers were allegedly shot dead by unknown assailants in the Bhagalpur district. The deceased were identified as residents of Parshuram village in the district, as per a report by Hindustan Times.
In a similar incident earlier this week, a district-level Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was shot dead in Katihar district in Bihar.
The deceased was identified as 55-year-old Sanjeev Mishra. He was a former Zilla Parishad member. The incident took place near his house when the assailants came on a motorbike.
