According to local news reports, there has been a firing incident at a polling booth in Sarsi seat in the Purnia district. One person has reportedly died in the incident, Prabhat Khabar reported.
The firing incident was triggered after heated arguments between villagers and security forces who allegedly beat up voters for breaking a queue at booth number 282, said a New Indian Express report. There has been no official statement on the matter yet.

As per the 3 pm report updated at voter turnout app, 42.88% polling was done in Bihar so far. Saharasa leads polling with nearly 49% turnout

Katihar :40.89%
Saharasa: 48.98%
Purnia: 44.4%
With Araria constituency recording the maximum turnout, the overall turnout of the state for the third and the last phase of the elections was recorded as 34.82% as per the data updated on EC's voter turnout app.
In this phase, apart from Assembly speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, the future of several RJD leaders including 12 members of Nitish cabinet will be finalised. The assembly constituencies going to the polls include West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Katihar, Madhepura, Saharsa, Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali and Samastipur.
In the final phase besides Bihar Assembly speaker Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, state ministers Bijendra Prasad Yadav, Narendra Narayan Yadav, Maheshwar Hazari, Ramesh Rishidev, Firoz Ahmed, Lakshmeshwar Roy, Bima Bharti Pramod Kumar, Suresh Sharma, Binod Narayan Jha, Madan Sahni and Krishnakumar Rishi are in the fray.
As per the latest data by Election Commission’s Voter Turnout application, 19.74% turn out was recorded till 11am.
The highest polling till 9 a.m. was registered in Araria and Vaishali districts with 10.67 and 10.28 per cent respectively. Supaul district recorded 10.11 per cent voting.
Other districts such as East Champaran registered 9.18 per cent, West Champaran 7.73, Sitamarhi 7.38, Madhubani 6.31, Kishanganj 6.83, Purnea 6.44, Katihar 5.36, Madhepura 5.65, Saharsa 4.05, Darbhanga 6.09, Muzaffarpur 7.25, and Samastipur 7.32 per cent.
So far 7.69% votes have been polled in the third and final phase of Bihar assembly elections, as per the 10 am report of the Voter Turnout application of the Election Commission.
Among 15 districts, Kishanganj, Purnia, Araria and Katihar have dominance of Muslim community. As per the data of Election Commission, Kishanganj has maximum 60 per cent Muslim voters, followed by Araria with 45 per cent, Karihar 40 per cent and Purnia 35 per cent. These four districts have 24 Assembly constituencies.
Kosi has three prominent districts Saharsa, Madhepura and Supaul having majority of Yadav community while Muslim community is less than 20 per cent. These three districts jointly have 13 assembly constituencies.
In the third phase, voters will be able to exercise their franchise in general Assembly constituencies from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. while from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in four Assembly constituencies. Security forces have been deployed at all polling booths. More elaborate security arrangements have been made in Seemanchal areas.

As per the Elections Commission of India, as many as 2.34 crore voters, spread across 78 assembly segments of the 243-strong Assembly, will decide the fates of 1,204 candidates, including the Speaker and 12 members of the state cabinet.

Bihar Polls, Bihar Assembly Elections 2020 LIVE Updates: The elections to the 243-member assembly of Bihar is taking place in three phases. It is one of the biggest elections globally to be held during the prevailing COVID-19 situation. The first and second phase of the elections on 94 seats concluded in the state amid strict Covid-19 protocols. The third phase of polls is scheduled for November 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
JD(U) ministers in the fray are Bijendra Prasad Yadav (Supaul), Narendra Narayan Yadav (Alamnagar), Maheshwar Hazari (Kalyanpur), Ramesh Rishideo (Singheshwar), Khurshid alias Firoz Ahmed (Sikta), Lakshmeshwar Roy (Laukaha), Bima Bharti (Rupauli) and Madan Sahni (Bahadurpur).
Four ministers are in the fray from the BJP Pramod Kumar (Motihari), Suresh Sharma (Muzaffarpur), Binod Narayan Jha (Benipatti) and Krishnakumar Rishi (Banmankhi).
Besides, wife and daughter-in-law respectively of recently deceased ministers Vinod Kumar Singh (BJP) and Kapil Deo Kamat (JDU) respectively are in the fray from the late legislatorss respective seats Pranpur and Babubarhi.
Another keenly watched candidate is Subhashini Yadav from Bihariganj whose father, veteran socialist leader and former Union minister Sharad Yadav, had been a multiple-term MP from Madhepura under which the assembly segment falls. She is contesting on a Congress ticket.
